tree shapers!

"This website has some of the most amazing furniture art ever. This stuff takes years to make and is wonderful cross between forestry and high design. It’s called Pooktre. The artists form living trees into furniture as the trees grow. When the tree is the perfect shape, it is harvested, dried and finished."

"Gradual Tree shaping is where you create a design and build the supporting frame work to grow the tree or trees into shape rather then bending living trees. Start with seedlings or saplings 3–12 in. (7.6–30.5 cm) long. This method is a day to day or weeky training of the new growth. Pooktre uses this method becuse the growth of the tree remaines strong with even and balacned growth as nothing is forced. Small designs can be grow into shape in one growing season, Bigger designs like chairs my take 2 or 3 years to grow into the design, then 5 or 7 years before they are ready to sit in."
